Digital payment systems
Digital payment systems unlike electronic commerce environments focus on getting a payment from a customer to a merchant. Both customers and merchants must have some commitment to one or more providers of digital payment services. There are two different digital payment systems: cyber cash and first virtual.
Cyber cash uses a straight forward interpretation of digital commerce basing its service on the need for secure, private and reliable transactions. Cyber cash offers a digital payment mechanism that uses cryptographic technologies including public and private key encryption and digital signatures, implemented through special client and server software.
First virtual is for buying and selling information only. It is not to be used to sell products or services, although, it can be used for subscriptions, memberships and charitable contributions.
First virtual offers a virtual mall, called InfoHaus through which just about anyone can sell information on which commissions and fees to be paid to first virtual.
